Some of you who know me pretty well may be wondering what all this other art is all about...and knitting...and sewing (yes, you heard right...stay tuned for a post of that one!). My 'roots' are with pencil drawing and I wanted to reassure those skeptics that yes, it is still my first love. However, I have not done much with it recently. So I'm going to cheat and put a pic of one I did before Christmas. Hey--at least it's not one done years ago! My parents haven't even seen this so I feel justified! Anyway...maybe putting it out there on the blog will remind me I need to do some more!
This may be the last post for a week...not sure...depends on how much I need to procrastinate on entering data! But we somehow got ourselves committed to an elk capture in the Black Hills of South Dakota and we leave Thursday morning for that (a 4 day affair) so in theory I need to stay focused before then. Will post some pics upon returning.
And speaking of elk...I promised an update on our sick elk. She is still basically the same. The tests came back negative for any type of fungal infection so our vet called a specialist. We are back to the same thing...she is fighting an internal abscess and apparently some animals have a gene that under this type of stress causes them to produce bone. Bizarre to me but apparently this is what Hooch is doing. We keep doing the antibiotic treatment we are on and eventually the body will break down this extra bone it is adding. We are fighting blind on this one...not having any indication on whether we are getting rid of the infection or not...not having any idea how long to keep her on antibiotics. So we still aren't really optimistic. But under antibiotics, she is perky, eating very well, and not amused to still be by herself in a small pen. So that's promising at the very least.
