Pictures of Finished Gifts!

Again, the frustrations that occur trying to take pictures of gourds...glare is evil. Anyway, my Dad's birthday is this week so I made a couple things for him. He specifically requested a gourd and while he didn't ask for a specific design, I knew he liked my previous leaf gourd. But I also knew he wanted something more functional (meaning not as much of the gourd cut out). So though I started with an image in mind, this gourd sort of just evolved on it's own. Which I think worked cuz I'm really pleased with how it turned out.

Next up is the revised hummingbird contact paper piece. Again, thanks to everyone who offered comments and suggestions on this one when I posted before. Hopefully my additions live up to your expectations! Another reminder that any time you want to see a bigger image, just click on the picture.

Finally, as promised, a picture of a new project on needles. I've wanted to knit fingerless gloves for awhile (yes, I'm aware it's summer and hot...but in NE Oregon, cold is only a couple months away) but never really found a pattern that just struck me as 'my style'. A few months ago, I picked up the book Alter Knits at a store and found this pattern...the glove has a
longer cuff and uses ribbon as an embellishment. I really like it. Anyway...hopefully these will knit up fast though i don't have any ribbon yet. I'm using a 'tweed' yarn (80% wool) that is a darkish blue with specs of lighter color in it. Stay tuned on this one....

By the way--probably not for everyone I'm sure but Alterknits has some very unique patterns in it...I'm really glad I bought the book.

Your projects are all beautiful, but the gourd is my favorite. I'm sure your dad will love it. You might want to make yourself a light box. It's easy to do and will take care of your glare problems.

The gourd is handsome. Painted Desert wants to know if he's available.
