Some More Knitting...

As you can see, I've been on a dishcloth roll lately...some days it seems like that is all my tired little brain can handle so I go with it. But at least I did mix it up with a scarf and with a 'not a ballband' dishcloth...

First up...some of you may remember these that were done months ago and were a birthday gift for a dear friend of mine. I think I may have mentioned at the time that I was putting them in the mail soon. Hmmm. Didn't happen (and yes, that post is dated October). So a
fter an embarrassing amount of time had passed, I figured I'd just wait and send them with her Christmas gift which was a scarf knit out of the same yarn. So yes, Christmas is long past. But it's the thought that counts right. The good news is that while I don't know if she has it yet, IT IS IN THE MAIL!

Pattern: Do I really need to say?? OK, Irish Hiking Scarf (aka, the scarf that would not end)!
Yarn: Knitpicks Wool of the Andes worsted weight colorway Lake Ice Heather...lost track of skeins but around 3-3.5. It's about 70 inches in length.
Mods: None

Verdict: I like the scarf, the pattern etc. I see it everywhere, but one of the main reasons I chose to start it was to remove the fear of cables. It was my first attempt at cables and while I think it turned out okay, I did learn quite a bit in the making of this scarf. I also blocked it a bit wider than I normally see done...trying to exaggerate the detail between the cables as much as the cables. The result was a flattening of the cables a bit...they don't pop as much as I see in others, but I still like the effect. Overall, happy with it.

And then there are more of these...all are gifts. The blue/yellow are in the mail and should be getting to the recipient soon. The green
one was a quick one done as a thank you...it's not in the mail yet so that's all I'll say. Let's just hope it goes in the mail sooner than the last gift!

And finally, another quick one that I did for a friend of mine to include in her Christmas package which was also way late (do you see a pattern developing here...I love to put together packages for people but it seems I have an aversion to actually mailing them...I think it's deep seated aggression against the u s p s.)

Pattern: Generic dishcloth pattern with a sea turtle designed by Cass.
Yarn: Sugar and Cream, partial skein.
Verdict: Cute little pattern and I like the cloth it made. Recipient liked it too!

Finally, a few weeks ago, Phoe celebrated her birthday by holding a contest and very generously gave away a large number of gifts...I
was the lucky recipient of the pale pink one and finally am getting around to putting a picture of it up (sorry it took so long Phoe...I seem to be bad about that as well!). She makes jewelry and this is what was in my package...
Thanks Phoe! If you don't know her blog, go check it out...in particular, you should go check the colors in these socks and check out her version of Mr. Greenjeans!

Next up...a food post. There's been a lot of food posts lately and it's inspired me to do some cooking with friends. I'll share.
