The first is legitimate. I finished this almost a month ago but just now had the time to take some photographs (and I finally figured out how to use a timer on my digital camera).
Yarn: Almost 3 skeins Cascade 220 Heathers; Cordovan

Project Duration: 2/29/2008 -- 9/7/2008

Modifications: None except to lengthen the ribbing by about an inch

Verdict: I like this knit and I do think it's a flattering piece. Very easy pattern but some problems (my own fault) along the way made finishing this up a chore and so the excitement sort of drained out of the project. I started this while I was still taking classes and all was progressing nicely at the beginning since the ribbing requires no thought. But then I hit the increases and it was apparently too much for my stressed little brain. I royally screwed up counting the increases. Which meant I had to rip back pretty much to the ribbing. I did this back in May but couldn't bring myself to go back to the project until August (ripping has that effect on me). But now that it's finished, I see getting quite a bit of wear out of it.
My second FO is the summer purse I started ages ago. Why, I'm not sure...I don't even use a purse. But start it, I did and finish it, I could not. I included it in my WIP parade a few months ago and the general consensus was to rip. So....it be ripped!
Life has been crazy hectic lately for more than one reason. Tomorrow I leave for a few days of much needed vacation to the Oregon Coast with my family. When I get back, I'll post an update of some of the things non-work related that have been keeping me so busy. Have a great weekend everybody.

Rachel, the vest is gorgeous! Looks really good on you, too.
Look at you getting that pile down. Mine is getting bigger by the day.
Have a lovely time with family. (And no worries on the recipes.)
That is a beautiful vest on you!
The vest turned out great! Looks like a perfect fit!
The vest looks perfect on you.
I agree, ripping can be finishing.
You are on a roll!
Looks great!
Ripping, or even having to make a decision about a piece has the same effect on me - it languishes and languishes! Glad your vest is done as it looks a great staple piece, and yes ripping is definitely finishing :o)
Happy vacation!
I do love that vest! Have a lovely vacation.
Oh Rachel, the vest does look great on you!! Great job!!
Make sure to take some pic's of the Oregon coast!! I love the water pics as I miss it so much :)
Do have a grand time!!
The vest looks great. And for the records, ripping a ufo should totally count as finishing.
Have fun on the coast! OR's coast is beautiful.
The vest is gorgeous! And frogging totally counts as finishing.
The vest looks fantastic - congratulations on another beautiful FO and enjoy your holiday
Rachel, your vest looks fantastic. I continue to be most impressed with your focus and knitting mojo. I continue to be completely missing mine over here! Can't wait to hear about your trip and what you've been up to...
I think the vest looks good. But I understand that if something is frustrating you in a knitting project it can take the excitement out of the whole thing. I just got home from a business trip and need to get back to my anikki.
The vest looks great on you. I love knitting vests as there's no seaming & it knits up so quickly. Your vacation looks great from the lovely pictures.
