I fell in love with this lap blanket the first time I saw it on brooklyntweed's site and knew I'd be making one for myself. But I also had a rather long list of family/friends that I thought would love it as well. Topping this list was my brother and his partner...so even though I haven't had the time to make one for myself, it became a fairly easy decision to knit this as a Christmas gift for them.
Yarn: ~600 yards of Cascade Ecological Wool; color 8049

Verdict: I love this blanket. And to me, it was a really enjoyable, fast knit. I was afraid when I started this that I'd grow bored with it and then not want to knit one for myself (sort of the scarf syndrome). I don't think that will be a problem...thinking about knitting more of these causes me no grief--I'm actually looking forward to it.Project duration: 10/15/08 - 11/25/08

I will say that I joined the KAL on yahoo at the start of knitting this project. While I didn't actually have any questions that I couldn't figure out with a bit of thought, getting the charts that others have put on file was really helpful to me.

Love the colour! I think these are gorgeous blankets.
I look forward to seeing more of your Christmas crafts.
Absolutely fabulous!
Beautiful colour, and a very neat finish!
Lovely blanket!
Very nice! Can't wait to see what else you create.
Rachel that blanket is wonderful. I have seen a couple of these in real life and have loved each finished piece. There is something nostalgic about it. I admire you for making all your gifts. I have no time at all with work the way it is, and my running, and life in general. Oh well. We have the tiniest family and I gave my mom a bunch of socks when I went there a couple of months ago, so I think I am golden with the parents :)
It's a beautiful piece of work Rachel, they will love it. I'm so impressed by your dedication to making such wonderful and personalized gifts - we did that for a few years but they were all the same (food stuffs, etc.) The last couple years we've tried to swear it off completely (gift exchanging) but that hasn't gone off very well with either side of the family. It's a dilemma!
I hope you are hanging in there with work and that it hasn't been TOO bad, and I hope you had a lovely and relaxing holiday last week!
Wow! Beautiful blanket. I can't believe it was easy to do tho'.
Beautiful! I love the color. Nice to hear your looking forward to make another. Can't wait to see your other gifts!
How pretty! I've got the yarn to do that, hopefully after Christmas. :-)

That's beautiful! I've been wanting to knit one of the Hemlock blankets too, in pretty much that color, for my Dad. One of these days.
Work and gifts are going to be eating up a lot of time this month! Good luck on both fronts!
