Shocking I know.
BTW - this post could also be titled: The Generosity of Friends Part II.
Around Xmas, Melissa posted asking what our favorite holiday songs were. She reminded me of The Carpenters Christmas...one of the few holiday albums I can stomach (sorry, just not a fan of holiday music!). I grew up listening to that album and loved it so she kindly offered to send it to me. Not only did the disc come, but she included another washcloth (I didn't realize how much I liked orange and blue until I got this...I love this cloth).
And her and Lily gave me a card. How cute is that? Lily drew me an elk! And very few people realize elk calves have spots...kudos Lily! However, I'll wait until she is older to let her know that in elk families, it's the mama elk and baby elk that are important! ;)
Fast forward to a couple weeks ago...two things converged. One is that I was cleaning out my craft room and found some stuff that I thought Lily may like. And since it was her birthday, thought maybe I could add a little something else hand-made in there for her. Second is that Jacey and I had been discussing a few small knitting challenges to do this year. I had never knit a dishcloth that wasn't a ballband and Jacey had never knit a dishcloth (!). You can see where this is going with respect to the challenge.
So in preparation, I went searching the one (well 2) place(s) I knew I'd find tons of great cloth patterns. Why search all of Ravelry when I can just go to Melissa's project page and Kate's project page? And I think I favorited (is that even a word?) about 13 patterns that I want to try. However, I also ran across a ballerina cloth that seemed to scream Lily. So I knit it up right quick. Now...I don't have any idea what a 7-year-old needs with a dishcloth but it is the thought that counts. Maybe she can clean up her glitter with it?! And Melissa, this was as close to pink as I could make myself go. Wash it a few times and it'll end up pink!
I haven't mailed it yet...figured maybe posting about it would give me the momentum to mail it. Time will tell...everybody likes birthdays that last for weeks right?

Now playing: Ode to Billie Joe by Bobbie Gentry
ok -- to those of you who knew the song from last week, do you know the B-side version? where it is played backwards? I still have the 45 with both of these songs...
